TitleNew build apartments - genuine concerns or scaremomgering?

Body
I'm looking to potentially move into a new build block of flats in Glasgow. I'm in an old build currently and have had damp/mould/electrics problems in the past which has drawn my attention to newer properties.

I was going to offer for the new built flat but if you search online, literally every blog and forum suggests that new builds these days are deathtraps. Main points seem to be cheaper materials, thin walls, timber frames, and the properties only lasting 20-30 years (which sounds like an exaggeration). I know that new builds come with loads of hassle the first year due to snags but didn't think there were so many long term, serious issues.

Does anyone have any new build/old build experiences or opinions to share? I'm interested to learn from others' experiences here.
