| Body | I currently stay with family in a fairly affluent area in the south side of Glasgow. I’ve been looking to buy my first home for a while now and found the perfect new build house. It’s in a new build estate called Cathkin View on Ardencraig Road, in Castlemilk. It’s about £160,000 for a 2 bed house.
It ticks all the boxes for me and I was about to put down a deposit, but I’m getting a lot of negative comments from a family and friends re the area.
I know Castlemilk isn’t the best area in Glasgow, but I’m happy to move there as this is the perfect house for me. However I’ve had a lot of people say I’ll regret it as the neighbourhood is bad, lots of crime, will have noisy neighbours etc. I’m on a bit of a downer as I’ve been searching for my first home for a while and this is the first one I’ve found which is in budget and meets all my needs.
Anyways, does anyone have any advice about this area of Castlemilk and if it’s really as bad people are saying? Should I hold off and wait till something else comes up?
