| Body | I was selling a piece of exercise equipment on Gumtree. I get a message saying can I email them if it's still available, providing a gmail address so I did.
The person says they're happy with the info & pics I've provided but they will need to get a courier to pick it up as they're not well & that they will PayPal the money instantly. They then email & say they couldn't send the money to the courier because of an issue with their bank, & they will transfer that money to me too, & can I transfer the money to the courier myself. The courier cost more than the exercise equipment.
The money doesn't arrive so I tell them I've not received it, and they ask me to check my junk mail etc too. I told them I checked the PayPal app & there's nothing there. Since then I've heard nothing at all, even though I've asked them what's happening with the payment.
I'm now worried this was an attempt to get me to send the money without me receiving the PayPal payment first, even though they didn't ask for this. They only have my home address & email/PayPal address. Is it possible this was some sort of scam do you think? |
