Just recently moved into a nice red sandstone tenement in the southside - had a really romanticised idea of living in one for years and finally, here I am. What I didn’t consider, is that an open chimney would let in a draught with an absolute vengeance.
Done a bit of a Google search for quick solutions - can see loads of specialised devices to stop it and some people recommending to shove some old pillows up it. As I’m on the ground floor, and I’m guessing there’s the minor chance somebody could light a fire on the upper flats - is there a fire risk from placing something inside the flue?
