TitleThoughts on Tollcross - would you buy a house there or would you stay clear?

Hi everyone - looking for a bit of advice. Husband and I have found a 4 bed house in Tollcross that we are keen on as first time buyers. It’s nicely decorated / move in quality, neighbours are about our age (28-32) and neighbourhood seems quiet. It’s walking distance to Tollcross Park and great for amenities (Lidl, the Fort, etc). My husband works in Glasgow and I work in Edinburgh, so also handy motorway access. We don’t have children but expect to have a baby in the next 2 years.

The drawback is that it’s the East End and I know it has a reputation. However, I’ve read a few bits on this thread about Tollcross and people seem to like it and say it’s perfectly safe to live in. My main concerns are safety/extreme anti social behaviour. I wanted to canvas for other opinions or experiences of anyone who has lived in Tollcross or near it.

Just for reference - we’ve rented in the Shawlands, Finnieston, Queen St and currently Maryhill. We are first time buyers but have a decent budget so we could look elsewhere... however, we would like to avoid a hefty mortgage payment which is why Tollcross is quite attractive to us. The house itself also ticks a lot of boxes for us!

Thank you!
