TitleShaved head after emergency surgery, how do I avoid comments/judgement?

Hi all,

I hope you're safe and well?

As per the title, I now have a completely bald head, it's not a good look for me and I'm desperate for my hair to grow back. Unfortunately, I required life-saving surgery and have a large row of staples across my head. As my head is very sore, I've been sitting in the gardens or going for short walks with the fresh air really helping. I'm unable to wear hats of any sort, which would at least hide my head from view.

Sadly, I'm noticing people are more wary (or even outright hostile) towards me, women in particular will glare at me - or cross to the other side of the street. Whilst in the supermarket, it feels like everyone is looking at me, certain men have smirks on their faces and I've had comments passed under their breath or dirty looks. One growled at me before stating: "Hink yer a hard man pal!?" and walked away laughing.

In all honesty, it's actually making me really reluctant to go out in public so hopefully, you can share what help and advice you have, perhaps you've been in a similar situation? I have "Paranoid Schizophrenia" and Autism, even a few of my assistants are noticing the change in behaviour towards me. I'm told to just "ignore it" but, I'm sure we'll all agree that's easier said than done!

Thank you.
