TitleDifficulties finding a flat as EU Student in Paisley

Hello, so I came to Paisley in 2018 to study and after living in overpriced student halls ( £500+ for a tiny room and bathroom) I decided to rent a flat as there's always listings on Rightmove and Gumtree, around £400 for 1 bedroom or studio flats in the area.

In early March I started enquiring about flats and I am still trying to get one and at this point I'm starting to lose hope. 50% of the time I'm told that without a UK guarantor or without a job in the UK, or just because I'm a student, I need to pay absurd amounts upfront or am straight up rejected from even applying. Sometimes I decide not to apply at all though, when they request all my personal information, income, address history, employers' contact details, family and friends addresses and contacts, and without providing these they won't even allow me to view flats.

So these are minor annoyances, but what I noticed is that all flats are gone in 24 hours. Literally all the flats I viewed so far had the viewings on one day when people came to view them in masses and that day or the next day they were gone when I expressed my interest. Yesterday I messaged a landlord 4 hours after their flat was listed and I was told that there are already too many people interested.

I wonder if it's always been like this here, or renting a flat in general is like this (never rented a flat before) or everyone in a 100 mile range decided that they want to get a flat in Paisley in April 2021?
