Hi not sure who to ask about this as just confused after googling so hoping someone here might have an idea.
Just bought my first home on 28 May and like an idiot forgot to take a meter reading until end of June as had only been in to decorate not living there - now have new gas/electric provider
The old one (bulb) sent a letter saying I owe them over a grand more than950 of which is just gas. From when the previous tenants moved out to the June reading. Confused as current bill is 80 a month for both so how could they even justify that figure?
I know I can contest it but as I didn’t have a reading not sure if I have a leg to stand on but definitely can’t afford that and think they’re hoping I’ll just panic and pay it.
Does any one have any experience of dealing with these companies or have any tips of what to say when I call?
