I work as a community staff nurse. I'm pretty new to community but am already more convinced than ever that the current system of social care provision is appalling. I knew this many years ago when I was working full-time (plus overtime) in a care home, looking after elderly and vulnerable people, and earning much less than I did working part-time in Marks & Spencer. Care provision shouldn't be for profit. You cannot pay people buttons and treat them like shit when they're caring for other human beings and providing a vital service.
My partner is a big advocate of co-ops and I'm also convinced that they may be the way forward from our current failing system.

Does anyone know of any nursing/carer co-ops in Scotland or the UK? Is anyone interested in doing something along those lines in future? |
