I received a jury duty citation yesterday to appear on Monday morning at the High Court but have a holiday booked the following week. Is it too late to get an exemption?
The letter I received yesterday was dated 12 days prior so I would be outwith the 7 days I need to respond with. Basically the letter took 12 days to get to me.
The other issue is this was a reminder letter but I never received the initial letter. I can't prove that I never received something though.
In normal circumstances I'm sure I'd be able to get the exemption due to a holiday coming up but given the late notice I doubt I'll be able to and may have to cancel the holiday (at full expense to me) as a result.
Anyone had a similar situation or able to offer any advice on this regard? I am planning on putting in the exemption today and turn up Monday as if I had to go and hope for the best.
Oh and my boss isn't best pleased either finding out this late in the day.
