Body | A bit of ranting how estate companies are nowadays and a question. Sorry for lengthy read.
I have a researcher who will join university and this guy is looking for accommodation for a month now. Every place he calls to see says bookings are full, or some say "fill an application through website" and who cares if you have a question as they just hang up. I understand it's a good market for them and they are busy but doesn't justify being rude.
Anyway, getting to the question, this guy is trying to book viewings practically every place he can find in Glasgow but they are asking for guarantor details before even seeing the flat to see that you are "eligible". Since guy will work with me (sooner he starts work without the worry of a place to stay, the better) I agreed to be a guarantor for him but giving my details to a random guy in an estate office every time for a viewing does not seem logical/safe.
Is this the normal way? It's been a while I rented from estate companies but is this a common practice now?
PS: can we add a flair saying property drama, thanks. |
