TitleNeighbour with Alzheimer’s- advice please

Hello! I was just wondering if anyone had found themselves in a similar situation to mine and could offer some advice/suggestions as to what to do.

I’m in a first floor tenement in the east end, and it’s a really quiet and nice close. With the exception of my upstairs neighbour who is in the throws of Alzheimer’s, and her family.

She is being cared for by her brother and his son, and I am woken up daily by her screaming at them, screaming for help and generally making extremely distressing noises. This has been the case for a few months now, but it’s getting progressively worse.

It used to be only early in the morning she would make noises, as she was being gotten up, washed and dressed I imagine. However now the noise is heard throughout the day, as she shouts for her brother almost continuously.

I work at home and work within the government so I’m frequently on calls and it’s starting to become an issue from a disturbance point of view.
But more than anything, I’m concerned for her and her well-being. I’m beginning to worry that she isn’t getting the right care.

I have only ever spoken to the brother and his son in passing and understand that they can’t afford to put her in care. But I don’t know them well enough to feel like I can ask questions etc

If it were any other standard noisy neighbour I wouldn’t mind confronting them, but this situation seems more delicate to me.

I’m considering speaking to Age UK for some advice, or a similar organisation. But any and all advice is welcome and will help me form an idea of what to do.

Thank you!
