Just wanted to leave a quick update to let everyone know that I eventually met up with 3 different people from this post. All three were very cool people and I think I got along pretty well with all of them. There weren't really awkward or creepy moments and we had a lot to chat about. (I mean everyone being part of multiple subs gives us all multiple topics at hand!)
We're all still alive, as far as I know, and we all still have all our kidneys! (Unless someone I met already was short one and didn't tell me)
I'm still semi-regularly in touch with one of them now, and we coincidentally even flew out of Glasgow on the same flight to Canada! Though we were happy to sit apart by then and just wanted to sleep.
It wasn't near as weird as some here seemed to think it would be, and certainly wasn't as dangerous. Unless you choose to meet deep in the middle of some back alley I guess in which case that's on you.
For those curious or interested I would suggest giving it a go in the future, but of course be prudent about it! And for those curious but think it's too weird in Glasgow, then if you're ever in Berlin, I know r/berlinsocialclub actually does meetups every month. I also know they ride together for Critical Mass which is an awesome event in Berlin. I tried to catch up to their group with my friends once but we never quite got to them at the front. |
