TitleHow do you go about renting a flat?

Body
My partner and I have been looking for a 2 bed flat since mid May. Our budgets are quite alright at £900-1000. Every good one on Rightmove is booked within a day of being listed. We tried going to agencies irl and receptionists wont even let us in the door, they said “you should go on our website”. On rare occasions we could actually book a viewing at a place we quite like, our applications weren’t successful. Of course there are flat at outrageous prices £1200-1500 that look nice and aren’t snatched as soon as they hit the market. But we’re not about to spend that much money on rent. Surely there are better ways to find a flat? We’re at our wits end. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
