TitleDog owners: keep it on a lead!

Sorry for the rant, but this is getting out of control. I'm seeing more people walking their dogs off the lead than on it, and almost universally their dogs neither keep to themselves nor respond to their owners when called on.

In the past week, I've seen three cyclists on Kelvin Walkway jumped at by dogs off the lead and another zigzagging in front of a runner while their owner, off somewhere in the distance, was shouting after them in vain.

And then this afternoon, some besuited wank sauntering along the walkway with both of his dogs off the lead had the cheek to complain to us when one of them ran passed us, then circled back behind our (leashed) German Shepherd and elicited a bark in response.

You might think your dog is too wee to be any trouble, or too 'nice' (one I hear a lot) for people to worry about. You're wrong, and you're just making life difficult for the rest of us.

Your dog is your responsibility, and you're legally obliged to keep it under control. [Legally](https://www.mygov.scot/controlling-your-dog), it's 'out of control' when you let it stray or it does not come back to you when called - about half of the dogs I've seen around here over the past couple of years.

If you're lucky enough, and disciplined enough, to have a dog that will stick by your side and follow your commands when off the lead in a public place, good for you. If not, keep your dog on a bloody lead.
