Hi,

I'm using a throwaway account as i'd like to keep my personal health unlinked to my usual account.

For a long time i've suspected I have adhd, and not a week goes by someone doesn't comment to ask if I have been diagnosed, though I appreciate this may just be a misunderstanding based on the vague pop-culture traits associated with it.

I have taken multiple tests online, and always score extremely high, even if try and answer on the side of caution to take into account potential confirmation bias. Again, i'm aware these are not entirely accurate. To this end, I have tried as many as I can, from as reputable a source as I can feasibly work out and averaged the scores from them.

Just before the pandemic, during a gp appt for general anxiety disorder, a doctor commented asking if i had adhd, and when I said no he suggested I go for a diagnostic. Unfortunately this was canned to due covid, and due to waiting times since I just never followed it up. You need to have a limb hanging off for my gp to currently agree to a face-to-face appointment, so appetite for anything non life threatening is thin on the ground.

As I grow older I have started really caring about my career so i'm keen to explore if this is possible as I would like to give myself the best chance of success.

I've seen some folks mention adhd direct on here and what i would like to ask is,

if they consider me to have adhd, what is the next steps?

Can i present my results my doctor for consideration? Can i pay for a private prescription? given the potential benefits, i'm happy to pay and financially comfortable to do this.

Ive looked into alternatives online in nootropic forums and also found some positive signs from folks using Piracetam etc. Has anyone tried any of these with success?

For transparency, I should state when i was at uni a flatmate had adhd and gave me a ritalin tablet for studying. It was a slow release capsule and for that day I felt a fog clear I had become used to operating through, and found myself massively more productive, with increased clarity and understanding of concepts.

These concepts are ones which I would be able to synthesise without, but with great mental strain and more time spent than my peers. I am aware pretty much anyone who tries these pills would observe enhanced cognitive function, however I do believe it may have been working as it is intended for those with legit adhd. I never used them again.

Thanks for any help folks.
