TitleCan a Citylink Driver Change Their Route Signage?

Body
In Edinburgh for the fringe with my girlfriend, decide to travel via bus. It’s later on, seen what we came to see and get on the bus home. Both my girlfriend and I confirm that it’s the bus going via Baillieston, it’ll take longer to get to the city centre but we’re knackered and decide to jump on. The journey looks like it’s going via Baillieston up until after Harthill, where the driver turns into Maxim Park… This sparks confusion between the pair of us, and a drunk bloke behind us who makes it quite clear.

The bus pulls up at Buchanan St station where the full bus gets off, I wait to ask the guy if he’s going elsewhere. He looks panicked, stutters for a bit and tells me if he kept going he’d go through the building. I call him a cheeky prick, get off and meet my girlfriend, who is pointing at the bus’s route: ‘Maxim Park’.

Drunk bloke confronts the driver as he gets off also telling him that this bus was for Baillieston, that was confirmed, so why the fuck did he end up side swiping it? To which the driver pauses, looks panicked, and shouts staff over on the bloke for causing a confrontation. At that point we leave for a taxi.

We’ve probably both misread the sign and the other bloke has been too pished to get on the right bus. I’m just wondering if there is any chance this driver has switched the route signage for a quicker shift, banking on everyone on a quiet bus getting off at the town?
