TitleA warning about Peter Vardy Carz

Sorry, long post

First time I've ever dealt with this company, and it will definitely be the last. Had I read the Google reviews first I wouldn't have gone near them but at least I managed to walk away...

I'm in the market for a used car. Had my eye on a particular model and they had one in stock that fitted my wishlist exactly.

Put a £99 reserve fee down online, had a follow call with a sales guy who was very nice but did push hard on the upsell but I just wanted the car at the price shown so declined any extras.

Was told the car would go for prep and they'd let me know when it was ready.

Couple of days later they call to say the cars gone off-site. No explanation why or where but just assumed MOT etc

A few days after that I get a call saying the car will be ready in the next day or so.

I get the same call the next day

Then about 3 days of silence. I try calling but it's a central switchboard and I cant get through to the branch at Hillingdon.

Eventually get hold of a girl in the handover team who tells me the car "is in the workshop" but can't tell me why. I ask her to find out and call me back. She doesn't.

Another couple of days of silence. I get in touch with the sales guy, ask him to help. He promises someone will call. They dont

It's now about 2 weeks since I paid the deposit and still no car.

On day 17 I manage to get through to a girl in the handover team. Again she trots out the line about being in the workshop but can't tell me why. I lose the rag a bit but remain polite. She puts the phone down on me after I ask her to find out what's going on.

Day 18, chase the sales guy. He doesn't respond.

Day 19. The sales guy's "Captain" (seriously) calls. Full of apologies, he's been on holiday, blah blah. The car I've reserved has a serious "engine or electrical" fault that they can't solve. Claims they've taken it to a main dealer for diagnostics but they can't solve it so they've sent the car to auction instead. Tried to upsell me to the same model but almost £3k more expensive. I say no and ask for my deposit back, which to be fair is refunded the next day

I've been keeping a close eye on their stock list and surprise surprise, it's now about 2 weeks later and the car I reserved hasn't gone to auction and is listed back for sale this morning.

Hard to know what the actual truth is but this mob seem very untrustworthy
