Using a throwaway just because.

Last night I ordered some food and had it delivered via Deliveroo to Partick. The guy that turned up seemed fine, handed my stuff over, but then immediately segued into talking about the HSBC building in the city centre having its windows panned the other night.

I replied with some standard patter and went to go in the house, but then he went on about patterns in the number of streetlights and how they're laid out by different organisations. No idea what he was on about. But it cued around 10 minutes (no exaggeration) in which this guy semi paced around and rhymed off every single mental conspiracy Facebook theory he had in his head. I'm talking: multiple sided coins, patterns in streetlights, radiation from streetlights, looking into the sun for 10 seconds cures every disease, modern buildings with glass ceilings don't make sense because there's no net to catch the glass (??), car headlamps kill us, chakras, electrical currents in the body and what level will kill us and what won't, something about diabetes, lots of general "knowledge will set you free" type stuff... just on and on and on.

At first I entertained it a little, then it got uncomfortable the longer it went on and I was wary of just turning my back on the guy because I was starting to think he was really unwell, then I just couldn't be arsed anymore and said something non-commital and shut the door on him and immediately locked it. He seemed kinda wired, dunno if he was on something or if he was vulnerable.

Anyway, really surreal experience, particularly as I was standing out in the cold with bag of food in one hand the entire time.

Has anyone ever run into this guy before? I think he needs help. I'm glad it was me that answered the door and not my partner.
