Title	Landlord increased rent 10% last week? Still legal after rent freeze?

Body	I thought the rent freeze was in effect from the 6th of Sep. Last week my landlord called me to discuss the rent increase and said that we wouldn't need to amend the contract, just having written email proof of the new rent is sufficient. Is this legal and could any of us get in trouble for this? My landlord has been really nice in the past, no increases in the last 2 years and I have a feeling that if we left the flat, the next tenants could buy nearly double due to recent rent inflation and scarcity in the market.
