| Body | Work part time at a pub in the city whilst studying for a Masters at Glasgow Uni, heavily reliant on my boss furloughing me so that I have income as I’m not eligible for universal credit etc due to my student status and I’ve already applied for a crisis fund through the uni, I’m fairly sure he hasn’t put us through the books properly but paid us into our bank account since the start of February.
He clearly never intended to put us through the books but when we began pestering him about the scheme and the fact that it was our only source of income, he must have panicked and tried to register us on the PAYE system although has done so after the deadline for Furlough. HMRC have told me that it’s up to him to amend our PAYE account to demonstrate that we’ve been working since before the deadline but he seems reluctant to do so, perhaps in case he gets himself in bother by drawing attention to his misdemeanours.
To make matters worse the employer cannot be compelled to put us on the scheme, he has full discretion in that regard. Despite the fact that a colleague and I have told him that we will have no money for food and bills if the issue isn’t resolved, he keeps coming up with new excuses or tries to deflect from the discussion by telling us that he doesn’t like our attitude.
Does anyone have any advice for the best course of action to take in relation to this? |
