I don't think this is entirely fair...
There's new rolling stock arriving and coming online in the next couple of years and the plan is to install platform doors to suit. The new stock has doors in completely different locations to the current rolling stock and any platform doors that got installed now would just have to be removed and re-installed for the new trains.
Granted, in an ideal world there would have been platform doors in place for a while now, but there's a lot about the subway that doesn't resemble an ideal world. |
