Well, I'll defer to you on that then, lad. I was very much basing my view on how they described themselves on the Danish, Swedish and Finlandic lads I know from university, but you've probably got more experience there.

However, just because a country leans pretty heavily towards supporting the welfare state the way it should, as well as proper collective bargaining amongst the workforce, it really shouldn't be described as socialism. All that really does is drive the conversation rightwards. The Nordic model is excellent, and to be honest I think it's the best available way forward for an independent Scotland, but at its core it is just a capitalistic system. A capitalist system that's adapted significantly more measures from socialist theory than many others, but a capitalist system none the less.
