With the Tories essentially gone from Scotland, it's basically just a big bag of tax revenue for the Tories that they dont have to care about because they don't need the seats. So they'll defund anything they can up here and not let the Scots leave. There is no agreement that the UK government have to grant an independence referendum because the SNP have 55 MPs. And we can talk glibly about revolution and building a wall as much as we like, the reality is it Scotland isn't going to have a war, even if their was the energy to form a physical uprising it would be quickly squashed by UK forces. Is there some route out of the union I'm not seeing? |
