Comment | Neither of those two statements are true. Catalonia was a independent nation and kingdom for much of its existence, and fully joined Spain (i.e. majority of hostilities ceased) *after* the union of the crowns here.
As for the UN, UN status is voted on by two bodies, the first is the Security Council, the second is the General Assembly. Without support you can and will be kept out; most obviously is Taiwan (ROC) is not recognised as a UN member, other examples are Palestine (autonomous region I believe) and Sothern Ossetia (which Georgia, a UN member, doesn't recognise and the SecCouncil is split on due to heavy Russian interference). |
