Sorry I misconstrued your sentence. I still don't understand your point regarding self-determination thought, there are still plenty of regions which have unilaterally declared independence and slef-determination, only to not be recognised by the UN. Trade is exceptionally difficult in this scenario, it is the habit of the contesting country to use their size to bully the seceding region's would-be trading partners. I suppose it's theoretically possible for the EU to admit Scotland, but if they risk then losing trade with the rUK, or destablising NI, they may opt not to unless recognised by the UN. In addition, the Catalonia situation remains complex, and Spain don't seem keen to set any precedents.

All in all it's a bit of a mess. As frustrating as it may be to those of us who lean toward, or favour, an independent Scotland, patience and process may the the price of a clean break.
