I did that and they did a benefits checker and said everything was correct but due to there being a 30 minute wait on the phone they didn't have the time to speak to wait to speak to someone so I had to do it on my own and what was said to me I said here. I've had several phone calls about it.

Every month with Universal Credit they give me an amount, mine is always £0. I get nothing. I get some of the rent paid and it shows what amount, it then says what I'm paying back for the loan and then it shows wages as reported by employer. The council said every month they get a statement from the government showing the same thing and the council tax is worked off that and I said at the time how can you get the same statement for 4 months showing the same numbers yet my council tax keeps going up? Then I got caught out this month because I get paid fortnightly and the period for Universal Credit managed to include 3 sets of wages. I get paid fortnightly on a Friday and so they think I was paid over £800 in a month when the truth is I got a lot lower than that, just my usual wage but Universal Credit wont do anything about it and the council can't do anything about it.

Then my issue was I thought council tax depended on your band not your income so it came across to me like the more money you earn the higher the council tax is and they had the same statement as me, obviously I'm working and on Universal Credit so clearly I'm not full time. I don't even know what full council tax would be. So if you can't pay on the 1st of the month you get charged extra the following month.....even though the letter shows all the dates which you can pay.
