If you've got time, go to Doune Castle which is easily accessible by public transport and should take about an hour to get to - it was built in the 14th century and is packed with old history and newish history, having been used for Game of Thrones, Outlander, the Outlaw King and Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Make sure you take a wander around Glasgow Uni in Glasgow! The Hunterian museum in the uni is free and very interesting!
