I really wanted to like Doune castle. I’ve had a historic Scotland membership this year so been travelling around visiting loads of castles. Doune has been one of my least favourite. It was so dark inside and there was a giant pile of furniture in the corner with tape round it in the middle of the great hall which looked awful. Most other Castles I’ve visited have had lights inside so you can actually see what you’re looking at. Dumbarton and Blackness were far better (in my opinion). |
