| Comment | To be honest, 'real' Hogmanay is spent with friends and (if you know them well) neighbours in the comfort of one's home. The Edinburgh street party thing is a just a big corporate event that is now about a quarter of its size compared to its 90s heyday. Ashton Lane and the George Square thing (is that even going anymore?) is a miserable experience where you pay a load of money to queue hours for a drink.
If you want to go out, find a good local pub and stick to that.
