When Scotland goes independent, expect an influx of affluent middle class southern English to arrive and ramp up the gentrification and colonisation. England is getting increasingly fucked by the tories, those with the means to relocate - affluent middle class yahs - will come here and take over because they’ll have the money to do it. Look at the west end for an example, look at Edinburgh. We may have progressive politics, but that could very quickly and easily change when there’s a bunch of wealthy tories flooding in. Aye there’s plenty sound cunts in England, but sound cunts don’t tend to colonise other places.
Fuck I had a friend who was a sex worker in Oban years ago run out of town by the middle class english wankers, I’m sure her being Irish didn’t help. She said the same thing, they move in, get into everything, the local groups, committees, you name it, take control. Next thing you know she’s having to pack up and go. ‘That kind of thing isn’t welcome in this town any more.’
As much as we need independence, it’s going to be a double edged sword. |
