Comment | At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the No campaign maintained that a vote to leave would also be a vote to leave the EU. This swung a lot of people as remaining in Europe was more important to them than gaining independence.
Now the political landscape has undergone a seismic change. A change so significant that many feel that another referendum on independence is more than merited.
Additionally, the SNP gaining so many seats in Westminster and now representing the majority of the regions in Scotland always stated in their manifesto that they would fight for another referendum. The fact that they have been voted in with such huge numbers shows that there is a mandate for another referendum.
All that is being asked is for the opportunity to be asked again. That's democracy and if the majority of people want self determination following the developments after the last referendum then there is even more of a reason to hold another referendum. To deny it is undemocratic. |
