Getting a residency visa with the right to work is a pain in the ass thanks to the "hostile environment" of the Tories. Unless your partner/spouse is a British citizen who meets the minimum income threshold, the most likely route is for a business to sponsor you. For employers, this is a significant expense: they can just hire UK/EU nationals without the added hassle. You could apply as an innovator/start-up entrepreneur but you need seed money of at least £50K.
