| Comment | We need actual barriers, like on some level crossings. Saw a video of one in Russia, which was just a big metal plate that rises out of the road - driving onto it from the level crossing side, it's like a ramp that drops under the weight of the vehicle, driving from the other direction, it stops the vehicle, without requiring the driver to brake. So effectively that in this case the engine block (which went over the plate, somehow) was effectively peeled away from the frame/wheels (which were lodged quite far under the plate). |
