Pretty sure Glasgow is fairly unique for having it's city center dissected by motorways. The two places I've seen mention here, Finnieston and High Street at Trongate, are both close to off/exit ramps to them. I'm often on foot around High Street and Cathedral Street a fair bit these days and the traffic closer to the Royal is mental at peak commute times.
