In all honesty, north Glasgow is pretty much the worst part of Glasgow these days. The east end is a bit run down but is generally okay, but Milton/Possil/Springburn are just crap.
Shawlands is a big improvement. Govanhill is a bit rough and ready, but doesn't have hordes of roaming neds.
