Thing is they only stop the largest of particles, can't remember the size, like 15-20microns or something. It is the particles on the 2-5 micron scale that do the most damage iirc.
Do fuck all for viruses which are hundreds of times smaller. Again.
Moreover, medical masks are to help stop you spreading disease to others not the other way around. They probably do this by stopping you touching your mouth/nose as often and catching some water droplets that may otherwise leave your body.
You'd really need to be in an isolated environment like a fucking space suit with your own air supply to really protect yourself from viruses etc.
But then your stuck with your own farts. |
