Being one of the first powers of the Atlantic Slavery to withdraw doesn't mitigate us being one the first and biggest to be part of it. Slaves weren't immediately free after 1807, and 1807 was only one chapter of many in a story that's still current - the deportation of the "Windrush Generation" and the conflicts in former colonies for example.
