Part time library assistant.

I'm lucky with my choice of shifts and location - I'm at a wee local branch where we tend to get mainly well-read retirees, and families with book-loving kids coming in, not the more challenging clients that the city centre branches can get (judging by posts I've seen on library-twitter). I'm almost always on with the team leader who's been there for years, so if there are any awkward questions, or trouble-makers, she's got my back. I used to be in academic administration which was way higher paid, but I burnt out from the stress, so this is probably less than half the pay but much much less stressful. And I get to play with books, and talk about authors, for money :)
Bad bits - the folk I can't help. The poor guys on Universal Credit running over to use the PCs after getting texts threatening them with sanctions if they don't log in within so many hours, but they can't afford to even top up their phone, never mind get broadband. Having to tell mums with toddlers that we don't have a public toilet. Mopping up afterwards ;)
