Comment | Cumbernauld is generally a grim area. Some parts of the country have never fully recovered from the lack of investments made in them after they were built. Many small satellite towns like it were made to rehouse people who lived in the slum tenements of Glasgow, and were moved there, away from all the jobs and their social circles. A half-century and more, deprivation is still felt within these areas, and has coloured the people to be very territorial and unwelcoming. |
