Comment | Traffic was absolutely brutal in the 60's. City centre congestion today is around 80% better than it was in 1960. The motorway eased the problem (according to the guys at Motorway Archive).
I drive the roads a lot. I do around 35 to 40 thousand miles per year. 3 to 4 times the amount an average driver does. From my experience (and the Archive podcast guys say the same thing) Glasgow is NOT a congested city. We have a very small peak time window where things grind, but that's only for 2 to 4 hours per day. The other 20 hours of the day, the city moves just fine. |
