North of the motorway and Cumbernauld is frankly excellent. Dulatur, Westerwood, Carrickstone, Craogmarloch are nice neighbourhoods with plenty of greenery. There are 3 gold courses within a mile of each other, plenty of open green spaces and just enough local amenities to make it seem local.

The train from Croy gets you into Glasgow in 12 minutes. The bus will be half an hour as long as it’s not rush hour, I can only assume that people who are saying an hour have never been there.

That been said, south of the motorway and you can pretty much take the opposite of all the above. There are still plenty of nice areas but when people think of Cumbernauld they think of the town centre which is admittedly horrid and then the estates like Abronhill and the worse bits of Greenfaulds because they’ve seen Gregory’s Girl, and they haven’t changed since in fairness.

As for OP, Cumbernauld is fine. £180/month in Abronhill is almost certainly not fine.
