| Comment | It’s not a destructive cult. But I think it’s definitely a cult. Just like most religions and churches in my opinion? Like Baptist church for example you get baptised and then you’re part of a cult essentially! And you view people who haven’t “been saved” or have announced Jesus Christ as your saviour as people who will go to hell.. that’s cult behaviour. Albeit, it’s mostly aimed at the overall good and improvement of people’s lives through the teaching of moral stories. I reckon the word “cult” has bad connotations. I should have specified a “destructive cult” in my OP. Where membership of said group results in being the recipient of abuse, control, coercion and ultimately murder, water poisoning, many people being left traumatised etc. (Example I’m referring to here is Nxivm). |
