I don’t work in hospitality and I’m not condoning this behaviour but the employee should have understood their rights (as we all should) before they entered the agreement: Jobs in hospitality are highly volatile and all high staff turnover is expected. However, we would all hope that discretion is awarded at this time of crisis!


It is likely this individual is a service occupier. See below for advice from shelter:

If you are a service occupier, you will have to leave your tied accommodation if you leave your employment. However, you should be given notice to leave your tied accommodation. The amount of notice you are given may be specified in your employment contract or service occupancy agreement.”
