| Comment | When I joined Fair Start the first thing I did was ask about what training opportunities they had available because I was keen to take everything that was available - I was told there was nothing.
I wanted help to find something, and I asked for help identifying which positions offered desirable skills, but I was expected to know what these were from the beginning - if it was that easy I wouldn't need their help. We looked at the "industries" I'd be interested in but we never looked at which actual jobs were actually available or what I would need.
From then on, the "coach" seemed determined to make me apply for cleaning jobs, something I made clear I was not interested in and didn't see any progression in. They kept telling me that once my foot was in the door other positions would be offered to me. I asked what would be offered other than more cleaning jobs?
I never missed an appointment and was never late, but then I mysteriously started to not receive emails and messages weren't being left on my phone, only to receive calls asking where I was because I had supposedly missed a meeting.
It was clear that they wanted me to leave, so I did. |
