Got a job as a phone monkey. My very first day on the phones I was almost in tears because I was afraid people were going to get mad at me to have them repeat themselves over and over and over again.
The reality is: people here see **my**accent as a novelty and absolutely nobody has been mad at me for having them repeat themselves (even a couple times). After about a year I understood more accents than my native Glaswegian wife!
Take it from me: you’ll be fine :)
Workplaces here don’t seem to have any problems hiring a non-Scottish person. |
