I moved to scotland from hungary in 2015 and it took a while to get used to the accent, but it was very much manageable even never having lived in an english speaking place before! :) some people have heavier accents that are very difficult to understand, but in most cases it's quite ok. in my experience, when I struggle to understand someone's accent, then most native speakers also struggle understanding that person!
