No worries. I grew up fishing the Black Cart in Johnstone, which has a good head of brownies and stocked rainbow trout.
Clyde style spiders are quite popular/effective for native brownies in rivers. My favourite flies were: Black Pennel, Partridge and Orange, Black spider, Hare's Lug spider, Pheasant Tail (tied with copper wire) and white nymphs.
