| Comment | Key thing here is distinction from latent vs. active labour. You're not allowed in the mat ward when the woman goes from latent to active, and where folk can be there days. Partners are allowed in the active stage, namely the suite and then an hour or so afterwards. That is still hours, and really the business end. Then the mother/baby go off to mat ward again for at least a day.
One solace is that in mat they can give the mother some *serious* cocodamol and apparently that eases things. |
