I know it's not what you asked but maybe it'll help until you get a machine. I (only recently) started doing milk and coffee in the mug first, giving that a swirl or stir, add a sugar if it's really cheap stuff, then add the water (preferably about a minute after the kettle boils). It's much creamier as the boiling water doesn't burn the shitey ground up stuff.
